Airmen with the 709th Airlift Squadron prepared a C-5M Super Galaxy for a joint emergency deployment exercise at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia on March 18.
Arriving Saturday morning during the unit training assembly, members of the 512th Airlift Wing, flew from Dover Air Force Base to JBLE in participation of a Joint Emergency Deployment Exercise. More than 160 military personnel were able to instruct and demonstrate the movement of personnel and their equipment in the event of a mass no-notice deployment.
The 302nd Inland Cargo Transfer Company from JBLE processed and conducted a joint inspection on passengers and seven vehicles as if they were going to fly to a deployment location.
“Giving both the 71st Aerial Port Squadron and 302nd ICTC the ability to work together and accomplish one goal, everyone went above and beyond,” said Staff Sgt. Timothy Trimble, the NCO in charge of the exercise with the 309th ICTC.
The joint-mission was to establish Langley's expeditionary readiness and efficiency in deploying military personnel while demonstrating loading and unloading procedures with the C5.
"The operational readiness exercise is essential to ensure we are prepared for deployment operations," said Senior Master Sgt. Scott O’Brien, a loadmaster with the 709th Airlift Squadron. "This exercise will provide Soldiers and Airmen with opportunities to apply their training, develop new skills and execute the joint base."
