PENSACOLA, Fla. – The leading information warfare (IW) officer for the Navy Reserve met with IW Sailors in the Pensacola area, April 19-20.

Rear Adm. Daniel MacDonnell, commander, Naval Information Force Reserve and reserve deputy commander, Naval Information Forces, talked with staff at Naval Information Force Reserve Corry Station Pensacola, the Center for Information Warfare Training, Information Warfare Training Command (IWTC) Corry Station and Navy Information Operations Command Pensacola to discuss the role of Reservists in the IW community.

During his visit, MacDonnell visited a classroom and spoke with IWTC Corry Station students about what they can expect as future members of the IW community and as Reservists, as well as the importance of finding a balance between civilian life and military requirements.
MacDonnell later addressed Reservist chief petty officers attending a prospective senior enlisted leader course. At each of his speaking engagements, he praised the work of Reservists as a critical component of the IW mission.

“It’s always great to get out and talk to both our junior Sailors and our more senior leaders,” said MacDonnell. “They are the ones who are running the Navy, and it’s a battery charge for me to talk to our people and see all the great things that they’re doing.”

Senior Chief Cryptologic Technician (Interpretive) Laura Stout, Naval Information Forces Reserve Corry Station Pensacola’s command language program manager, appreciated the chance to engage with IW community leaders.

“These visits allow active and Reserve Sailors serving side by side, the opportunity to address top-level leadership with their concerns as well as garner important information regarding the way ahead for their communities into the future," Said Stout.
