The 63rd RSC hosted two post-deployment events and co-hosted a pre-deployment event with the 807th Medical Command Deployment Support totaling more than 700 attendees for the weekend.
“Our mission is to promote the well-being of our service members, family members and communities by connecting you with resources throughout your deployment cycle,” Alvin said during the opening general session.
Alvin thanked the soldiers and families for their sacrifices and shared hardships and urged all attendees to take advantage of the available resources at the event.
He further explained, “No matter what part of the deployment cycle that you may be in, there are specific obstacles and challenges that you and your loved ones will go through or have gone through—both individually and together.”
“I would like to emphasize the significance of the programs and resources that are available to you here this weekend, and encourage you to seize the opportunity to make those contacts, gather those business cards, and ensure those resources can take care of you in the future,” Alvin said in closing.
Several 63rd RSC command team members also in attendance welcoming attendees were Chief Warrant Officer 5 Belynda Lindsey, Command Sgt. Maj. Kelly Largent, Army Reserve Ambassadors Olin Brewster and Al Jones. Brig. Gen. Sandra Alvey, deputy commanding general of the 807th MCDS, also attended as a command representative.
Brig. Gen. Bruce Hackett, commanding general of the 451st Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), and Brig. Gen. Susan Henderson, deputy commanding general of the 79th Theater Sustainment Command, attended their first post-deployment event after both deploying with the 451st ESC.
Alvin and the command team visited some of the breakout sessions during the event and several of the community partners representing 63rd RSC internal resources, such as the Reserve Personnel Action Center, Suicide Prevention Program, Sexual Harassment/Assault Prevention Program and Occupational Safety & Health Office.
