Vice Adm. Mary M. Jackson, commander of Navy Installations Command (CNIC), visited Commander, Naval Region Korea (CNRK) May 14-16 as part of her routine assessment of the Navy’s Asia-based installations.

This marks Jackson's first visit to the Republic of Korea (ROK) since assuming command of CNIC on March 31.

"While this is my first visit to Korea as CNIC, I am familiar with the importance of our mission in Korea," said Jackson. "You serve and support in a very important location. What you do each day matters not just to the region, but to the entire shore enterprise. This visit allows me to hear directly from you on how we may better support the work that is being done here in Korea."

During her two-day visit, Jackson toured CNRK's headquarters in Busan, the only Navy headquarters located on a ROK base, Fleet Activities Chinhae, the only Navy installation in Korea, and the ROK Naval Academy.

Jackson met with senior U.S. and ROK Navy leaders, toured family housing and support facilities in Chinhae, and discussed her overall priorities and vision during a round table with CNRK staff members.

"We were honored to have hosted [Vice Adm. Jackson] during her first visit to Korea," said Cdmr. Terry McNamara, Commander, Fleet Activities Chinhae. "My team was proud to show off the level of support we provide to the Fleet and the quality of care we provide to our Sailors and their families. Her visit sends an important message about the significance CNIC places on our mission, which combines United States Forces Korea's mantra of 'Fight tonight' with CNIC's core precepts of supporting the Fleet, warfighters and families."

CNIC's mission is to enable the Navy's Operating Concept through Enterprise alignment of all shore installation support to the Fleet, Fighter and Family. For more information on CNIC visit https://www.cnic.navy.mil/.

CNRK provides shore installation management and support to Navy activities throughout the Republic of Korea. CNRK exercises military command over Fleet Activities Chinhae, the only US Navy installation in mainland Asia. For more news from Commander, Navy Region Korea, visit www.navy.mil/local/cnfk.
