    126th Air Refueling Wing

All available members of the 126th Air Refueling Wing met together May 7, for a group photo on the Air National Guard parking ramp at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.

The formation consisted of approximately 635 personnel and included commanders, officers and enlisted from all four assigned Groups: the 126th Operations Group, the 126th Maintenance Group, the 126th Mission Support Group and the 126th Medical Group. The 126th Air Refueling Wing Headquarters element and the 906th Air Refueling Squadron, an Air Force classic association squadron assigned to the 126th, also participated.

In the background were three KC-135 Stratotankers representing the Wing mission of aerial refueling in support of the nation's nuclear deterrence concept.

In order to make the formation come together, Master Sgt. Christian Konazewski, First Sergeant of the 906th, volunteered to form and size the Wing. Using the First Sergeants from the other units to assist, he lined up rows and columns before giving the traditional military commands of “turn and tap” to ensure the taller people were at the back of the columns. "It was fun and went a lot quicker than expected thanks to the Air National Guard First Sergeant team," said Konazewski.

The photo provides a visual record of volunteers who have come together to follow in the footsteps of the original minutemen.

“Events like this improve morale in the Wing. It gives everyone a chance to see that we all come together to support the mission of the 126th. No one is more or less important to achieving overall success,” said Senior Master Sgt. Brian Goldstein, the Occupational Safety Manager for the Wing. “It also provides a vital document for our history records so those that follow us can know their heritage.”
