The four-day competition featured a series of physical and mental challenges at training sites across the installation.
Events included three six-mile ruck marches; qualification and stress shoot ranges, an Army Physical Fitness Test, day and night land navigation, an obstacle course, and a first aid lane.
Categories in the competition included best junior enlisted Soldier, best non-commissioned officer, best warrant officer, best officer and best command team. Participants representing 7th Infantry Division, 25th Infantry Division, 593rd Expeditionary Sustainment Bridage and the 503rd Military Police Battalion competed for the right to be called “Best Warrior.”
“[The events] are meant to test us both physically and mentally,” said Chief Warrant Officer 2 Phillip Macarthur, a competitor for best warrant officer and a pilot from the 25th Combat Aviation Brigade. “We have to be able to adapt and overcome.”
The competition concluded with a mock promotion board headed by Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Grinston, the I Corps senior enlisted advisor.
According to event coordinator, Sgt. Maj. Jose Otero, Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, I Corps, winners for every category will be announced at the upcoming 252nd Army Ball June 8.
