Little Rock AFB, Ark -- The U.S. Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants, the premier musical organization in the Air Force, entertained local community members April 7, 2016 night Little Rock Central High School.

U.S. Air Force Reserve Col. Craig Drescher, 913th Airlift Group commander, introduced the band to a crowd of more than 300 people.

“I’ve been telling the band how great the cities and towns in central Arkansas are. As a Reservist I know, because the majority of our members live and work here, but I want to tell you just how great the Band is,” Drescher said. “These fantastic musicians are a reflection of the excellence carried out 24 hours a day by the Airmen stationed around the globe. Each member represents Airmen who are serving, sacrificing and ensuring our freedoms.”

U.S. Air Force Col. Larry H. Lang, U.S. Air Force Concert Band Singing Sergeants commander and conductor of the band, shared his thoughts on why the band’s concerts are so meaningful.

“Central Arkansas has always been supportive of Little Rock Air Force Base,” Lang said. “This concert was an opportunity for us to honor the many veterans living locally, inspire citizens, heighten patriotism and give back to the communities.”

While many listened to the stirring sounds and songs, members of the Little Rock Central High School Band had a more hands-on roll: they played a song with the band.

“It was a great honor to perform with the Air Force Band,” said Noah Deventer, a Little Rock Central High School Band trumpeter. “It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and something every musician would be excited about.”

Since its formation in 1941, the world-class organization has traveled the globe, inspiring millions of listeners with its exhilarating music, engaging concerts and masterful recordings.

The band’s 12-day Spring 2016 Tour still includes stops in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee where their mission is to positively impact the global community through music.
