Lt. Col. Damon K. Burrows relinquished command of 9th Communication Battalion to Lt. Col. Bryan A. Eovito at Camp Pendleton, California, June 8, 2017.
Burrows, who commanded the battalion over the past three years will attend the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
“Good work ethic, dedication and decisive actions are just some of the words to describe [Burrows],” said Col. Roberta Shea, commanding officer, I Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group, who spoke at the ceremony. “He poured his heart and soul into this battalion, and we hope that [Eovito] will do the same.”
Burrows expressed his gratitude to 9th Communication Bn., his family, and the 1st Marine Division Band who performed at the ceremony.
“I have been blessed with family, friends and fellow Marines as great as the ones I have served with here at [9th Communication Bn.],” said Burrows.
Eovito was the deputy plans and operations officer for 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing at Miramar, Calif.
Eovito holds a Master of Science in Systems Technology from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Master of Operational Studies from the School of Advanced Warfighting.
He served as company commander, Company A, 7th Communication Battalion, Okinawa, Japan, and deployed as the operations director, Afghan National Army Special Operations Advisory Group, Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Afghanistan. He also served as the executive officer, 7th Communication Battalion.
“I look forward to working with each and every Marine on this field,” said Eovito.
