The selectees will go through an intense six weeks of training and leadership lessons before being pinned as chief petty officers according to Master Chief Aircraft Maintenanceman Erika Lennon, the Senior Enlisted Leader at VR-57.
“At the end of the training they will be fully ready, willing, and able,” Lennon said. “They will learn how to become the Chief.”
One of the selectees, Chief Aviation Structural Mechanic (Select) Anthony J. Lubrano, the quality assurance leading petty officer assigned to VR-57, feels hard work, leadership, and relying on the people he leads helped him get selected.
“The guys below me made me a chief select,” Lubrano said. “This gives me more avenues and tools to help junior sailors.”
The Conquistadors of VR-57 are part of a team that is entrusted to safely execute responsive, flexible, and rapid deployable C-40 Clipper aircraft logistics support to fleet and combatant commanders worldwide.
