Soldiers of the 3rd Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Armored Brigade Combat, 3rd Infantry Division participated in a change of command and change of responsibility ceremony, July 21, at Cottrell Field.
The “Ready Battalion” said goodbye to Lt. Col. William Arnold and Command Sgt. Major Eric Anne` and welcomed the command team of Lt. Col. Fenicia Jackson and Command Sgt. Major Jose Rosario.
Col. Michael Adams, the 1ABCT Commander, thanked the Families of the Soldiers and then spoke to the battalion’s accomplishments and reputation.
“In the short time since I joined this brigade combat team, I’ve had a chance to see just how outstanding the leadership of the Ready Battalion has been,” said Adams. “Will and Command Sgt. Major Anne`, and their team have definitely added to the excellent reputation in the logistics realm”.
Arnold and Anne` led the battalion through three combined training center rotations, a deployment to Europe as part of the regionally aligned forces mission, and countless home station exercises.
"Today is a bittersweet day,” said Arnold. “I stand here humbled and honored to have had the opportunity to command this brigade support battalion in the Army over the last two years.”
The 3rd BSB motto is “Ready to Roll” and their mission is to support the 1st ABCT, 3rd ID “Raider Brigade” in any mission across the globe.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the battalion standing before you on the field today represents the lifeblood of the Raider Brigade,” Arnold said. “These men and women are what keeps the brigade in the fight; there is not a vehicle part, a round of ammunition, fuel water and food, you name it that does not pass through the hands of these Soldiers as they support the brigade in any mission worldwide.
The capabilities of the ready battalion were showcased during the Raider Brigade’s deployment to Europe as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve.
“From providing sustainment mission command of a concept of support over 11 countries in Europe, to operating a combined logistics hub that supported 21 nations in Anaconda 16 in Poland, this battalion has done and seen it all.” said Arnold. “To the Soldiers standing before me, thank you for what you and your Families do every day.”
The incoming command team have both served previously at Fort Stewart.
“What a great day to be a Soldier and a leader. I am blessed and excited to be taking command of such a distinguished battalion,” said Jackson. “Command Sgt. Major Rosario and I are proud to be Dog Faced Soldiers again.”
