Air Mobility Command hosted Industry Day, which included nearly 70 industry members and provided a networking and showcase platform for the Air Force and its partners here Aug. 9, 2017.
The goal of Industry Day is to prepare industry for capabilities AMC may need in the future, said Tom Bennett, Air Mobility Command strategy deputy division chief. AMC leadership is given an opportunity through this venue to exchange ideas for what they’re looking for in the future.
Attendees included AMC leadership, Gen. Carlton D. Everhart II, AMC commander, and Maj. Gen. Thomas Sharpy, AMC vice commander. Attending industry partners included Boeing, Lockheed-Martin, Microsoft, as well as several local companies and small businesses.
During the event, industry partners and AMC leadership participated in one-on-one sessions. Event organizers randomly paired general officers with business partners for 15-minute speed discussion sessions. Topics included next-generation platforms, enhanced vision systems, and the AMC readiness exercise also occurring here, Mobility Guardian.
Although Industry Day is not a part of the exercise, the events were scheduled together so attending civic leaders and distinguished visitors involved with Mobility Guardian could have an opportunity to interact with industry, said Al Lambaria, AMC requirements deputy division chief.
Rapid Global Mobility continues to move forward with innovations in air and space; however, their feats couldn’t be accomplished without its ties to their partners, Lambaria said.
“We want to develop lasting relationships with industry to help us be more innovative and to address some of the issues we may see in the future,” he added.
“If we’re going to be bold and innovative Airmen, we must have industry partners,” Sharpy said. “We’re here to open a dialogue for Rapid Global Mobility today and tomorrow.”
