The game scenarios recreated real historical battles and the game setups, which ranged from board game style to small scale models, were represented by hand-painted miniatures. Each game included a game master, who acted as a facilitator and umpire, and four to five players including Marines, government employees and contractors.
Although a light-spirited event, careful planning and collaboration were necessary to achieve the desired outcome of familiarizing players with model-based hybrid wargaming. All came away with a better appreciation of the art of wargaming and its potential benefits to the Marine Corps.
