Lt. Col. Matthew Collins assumed command of the 92nd Air Refueling Squadron from Lt. Col. Jason Brown during a ceremony June 2.
Collins joins Team Fairchild after serving as the Aide-de-Camp to the Deputy Chairman of the Military Committee, NATO headquarters, Belgium. He was an Air Force Fellow and Chief Staff of the Air Force Scholar at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
"I stand in awe of the sacrifices our Blackhawk families have made to answer our nation’s call to service,” said Collins. “Their dedication and selflessness inspire me and I am honored for the opportunity to serve alongside them."
Collins entered active duty in 2003 after earning his commission from the United States Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps at Yale University.
He is a senior pilot with more than 2,700 flight hours. He has flown as an instructor pilot in the T-1A Jayhawk and as an evaluator pilot in the KC-135R/T Stratotanker, logging more than 800 combat hours as pilot in command during multiple deployments in support of United States Central Command.
"Today we honor Lt. Col. Brown and his family for their outstanding service and dedication to the 92nd ARS,” Collins said. “They leave behind a legacy of excellence. I am filled with pride at the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the distinguished commanders who have come before me and to continue this squadron’s longstanding tradition of excellence."
