MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CENTER TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. – For 74 years, Third Battalion, Eleventh Marines has lived by their motto, Semper Flexiblis, which means always flexible. From convoy escorts and combat patrols to humanitarian assistance and giving back to their veterans, 3/11 has demonstrated their flexibility time and again.

The 3/11 Association’s held their 12th annual reunion for veterans of the unit aboard the Combat Center, September 21, 2017. The veterans present took part in conflicts ranging from the Korean War to more recent conflicts.

“This is our 12th reunion for artillery, and it’s by far the best one I’ve been to.” said George Alberto Moran, USMC Ret.

The reunion began in Dunham Chow Hall, where the veterans broke bread with their fellow artillerymen. Old friends were reunited through the Marine Corps unwavering brotherhood and were able to reminisce about their days in the Corps. After their meal, 3/11 representatives took the veterans to tour the barracks which they once called home.

Once the barracks tour finished, hosts from 3/11 took all the veterans to 3/11 headquarters, where a static display was prepared. The display showcased new Marine Corps technology, such as the M777A2 155mm Howitzer.

“I’ve been in 1/11 and I’ve been in 2/11, but I’ve never been a part of anything like this,” said Gunnery Sgt. Osman Lima, Battery Gunnery Sgt., 3/11. “It feels special to know that these guys are out there and that we’ll always have brothers out there no matter where we’re at.”
