OSAN AIR BASE, South Korea (May 22, 2017) - - Crewmembers from KBS News toured 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade’s patriot site and various locations of Osan Air Base here May 22 at Osan Air Base, South Korea.
The crewmembers are filming a documentary to showcase the benefits in the alliance of the Republic of Korea’s military and U.S. Army, said Dongjin Hwang, a reporter from KBS News.
“The Republic of Korea and the U.S. Army are strong enough to defeat North Korean threats,” said Hwang. “We have a strong relationship between the ROK and the U.S. Army.”
Hwang and his crewmembers traveled across the South Korean peninsula to various military installations. They toured and documented the ROK Marine’s and Airforce’s sites and will tour the Demilitarized Zone.
The documentary is projected to be called, “the Korean peninsula crisis and a way to unification,” he said.
Hwang’s team documented 35th ADA BDE’s patriot missile site to demonstrate to the public, especially the South Koreans, of how the brigade will protect South Korea.
“These days, Koreans are a little bit nervous of the North Korean missile launches,” said Hwang. “They feel that the security in Korea is not enough to defend our country.”
35th ADA BDE conducts joint and combined air and missile defense operations to protect assigned critical assets from surveillance, aerial attacks and missile attacks.
“We have to show that we’re always ready,” said Pvt. Trey Ward, a Patriot launching station enhanced operator from Delta Battery, 6-52 ADA Battalion. “We’re always ready to protect people and if they know that, they can sleep at night and feel more comfortable.”
