Andrew J. Getman, a personnel chief with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit and native of Crescent City, Calif., was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corps at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, Nov. 1, 2017.
Getman graduated from Del Norte High School in 2006 and later enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2009. Upon completing recruit training in Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego and Marine Combat Training in Camp Pendleton, Calif., he attended and graduated from Personnel Administration School in Camp Johnson, N.C., in 2009.
Thus far, during his eight years of service in the Marine Corps, Getman has been stationed in MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif. and Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C. and served as a Color Sergeant while stationed in Marine Corps Forces Central Command, Fla.
His experience has shown him that hard work pays off, and he is thankful to all his Marines that made it possible. He hopes to continue to inspire his Marines throughout the remainder of his career.
Getman’s personal awards include: A Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), National Defense Service Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
