Sixty-one students attended the annual Patriot Staff Planners Orientation Course on Oct. 23-26 at Raytheon’s Warfighter Center on Jan Davis Drive in Huntsville.
Guest speaker Patricia Cox, director of the Logistics Directorate, Lower Tier Project Office, provided an overview of LTPO and the role the Patriot missile system has in military air defense.
The Patriot Staff Planners Orientation Course is a 32-hour New Equipment Training course, which provides an introduction to the Patriot system. The course is open to military, Army civilians, contractors and Foreign Military Sales customers.
Prospective students are new to the Patriot missile system, or have worked in the system for years and require a broader view.
The goal of the course is to enable students to see how the work they perform in support of Patriot fits into the big picture, in addition to providing a glimpse into the periphery of the system.
The 2017 Patriot Staff Planners Orientation Course, taught by Raytheon Company, included an overview of Patriot major end items, operations and logistics. The students also got a guided tour at the Software and Engineering Directorate, interactive radar repair training on the Patriot Reconfigurable Table Top Trainer and a demonstration of the HoloLens.
The next Patriot Staff Planners Orientation Course is Oct. 22-25, 2018.
Editor’s note: James LaFrance and Bruce Howard are Patriot new equipment training managers in the Logistics Support Directorate within the Aviation and Missile Command.
