Information Warfare Training Site Pacific Northwest (IWTS PNW) kicked off the annual Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) event at Naval Station Everett, Wash. on Nov. 3.

IWTS PNW led a training event for campaign organizers in the area. 30 command representatives representing more than 3,600 government employees throughout the PNW region. Its site director, LTJG Jeremia Hall, led event coordination.

“I think it is fantastic for active duty and retired military members to be able to support a cause,” said Hall. “Some members are driven by a passion for being good people and others are drawn to certain organizations because of personal life experiences. These men and women fight for their country day in and day out, but also still have the need to continue to give to a cause greater than themselves, and it is a true testament to who they are.”

Twenty-five representatives from commands in Everett and surrounding areas attended the one-hour CFC key worker event. They will be responsible for providing technical, material and advisory support throughout the season. The training outlined multiple major changes to the program, including an online catalog and donation portal to assist in finding and donating to a charity. This year’s campaign will close January 12, 2018.

"The updates to the program have made donating more efficient and locating your charity online is much easier now,” said Gunner’s Mate First Class James O'Day from Center for Surface Combat Systems. “I just completed my donation and it was as easy as making an online purchase."

Created in 1961, the CFC is a focal point for over 20,000 nonprofit charities to advertise to all government employees at the same place and time.
