ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- The 3rd Air Force commander and command chief master sergeant visited here, Nov. 8.
U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Richard Clark, 3rd Air Force and 17th Expeditionary Air Force commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Anthony Cruz Munoz, 3rd Air Force and 17th Expeditionary Air Force command chief, spoke with Liberty Wing Airmen about their priorities, the impact Liberty Airmen have on the Air Force mission and building relationships between the U.S. and partner nations.
“The mission is obviously number one,” Clark said. “And I will tell you that the things this wing has accomplished in the past months and year, you guys get the mission piece. There’s only about a half a percent of us in the United States that are willing to put this uniform on to execute the mission that we do.”
Clark also discussed the importance of inspiring Airmen and taking care of family.
“We as leaders owe you every opportunity to take care of your family,” said Clark. “We owe you the resources, the facilities and the manpower so that you can take care of your families.”
In addition to their priorities, the 3rd Air Force leadership also spoke on the importance of being professional at all times.
“Only about 20 percent of Airmen serve overseas at any given time,” said Cruz Munoz. “When you look at Europe it’s only about six percent [of the Force]. What I’ll tell you is you’re an ambassador for the United States, to this country and every other country you come in contact with. You are developing relationships, whether in uniform or out of uniform downtown. Understand that we have a responsibility to develop those relationships.”
