ANNISTON ARMY DEPOT, Ala. -- Col. Joel Warhurst and Sgt. Maj. Ronald Ferdinand toured Coldwater Elementary School Nov. 3.

Coldwater, Anniston Army Depot’s adopt-a-school, is part of the Oxford City School System.

Warhurst and Ferdinand saw several improvements made at the school during the last few years from an outdoor classroom to an area where children can eat lunch outside.

The last stop on the tour was the school’s new maker space for children to create a variety of products.

The new lab includes one of the school’s prized possessions - a 3D printer.

Warhurst commented on the positive investment the city of Oxford and the school system are willing to make in their future workforce.

Throughout each stop on the tour - classrooms, the library and cafeteria - Warhurst and Ferdinand took time to speak with the students.

Many of them regaled the duo with stories of their family members who work at the depot or relatives who are in the military.
