Afghan Special Security Forces seized in excess of 1,000 pounds of homemade explosives during night raids in Maiwand district, Kandahar province and Marjah district, Helmand province, Afghanistan, Nov. 24 and 26, 2017.
"Terrorists will not triumph here," Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said in a recent Kandahar Airfield visit, underscoring the government’s commitment to providing security and stability to its people.
The raids included multiple Afghan National Army Special Operation Command units and Police Special Units. The ASSF routinely joins forces to conduct combined operations that maximize the specialties of each unit.
Two vehicle-born IEDs, over 2,000 rounds of ammunition, and large quantities of military-style equipment were also removed from the IED factories.
