NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Dec. 14, 2017) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that work to replace water lines at Dale Hollow Dam Campground in Celina, Tenn., begins Dec. 18, 2017, making it necessary to close public access. The work is scheduled to be completed in March 2018, weather permitting.

“This project will replace degraded waterlines and reduce reoccurring water line breaks, which waste tax payer dollars and reduce services to campers,” said Dale Hollow Lake Resource Manager Stephen Beason. “We regret any inconvenience this will cause, but we strongly feel that restricting access to the campground needs to be done in the interest of public safety. We also look forward to improved water service to our camping customers in the upcoming year.”

While construction is underway, restricting public access to the campground is necessary because heavy machinery along with open trenches during construction make conditions unsafe. Anyone desiring to hike on the back part of the trail or fish along the steam can access these areas via the road side parking on highway 53. The fishing pier adjacent to the day use area will remain open.

While the Dale Hollow Dam Campground is closed to walking, please consider using the trails at Donaldson Park, located at 1110 Jackson Street in Celina, which is a short distance away.
