The AMCOM Office of Small Business Programs recently participated in Jacksonville State University’s Procurement Technical Assistance Center Small Business Development Center Government Matchmaker and Procurement Opportunity Workshop.

The matchmaking event’s main objective was to connect small business owners with procurement officials from federal agencies and prime companies who are looking for suppliers to help meet the government’s contracting requirements. Small businesses had the opportunity to directly showcase their products and services through individual face-to-face appointments with purchasing officers, helping to increase their possibilities of growth and job creation. Oftentimes, it is hard for a small businesses to gain access to buyers; thus, making it difficult for them to find contracting opportunities. Matchmaking workshops, like this one, give small businesses that chance to network with potential customers as well as present their company’s product or service.

Matchmaking events can be extremely advantageous to small businesses in giving them a competitive advantage with potential buyers. Although no potential customer can guarantee a contract, the event does allow for information to be given to small businesses about how to compete for contracts.

The AMCOM Office of Small Business Programs frequently attends various matchmaking events, similar to this one, to provide program managers and acquisition officials with information pertaining to small businesses and their capabilities for upcoming requirements. The government is a vast organizational entity, and just like any other business or organization, the government needs to purchase various goods and services to function efficiently and effectively. Matchmaking events gives AMCOM Office of Small Business Programs the ability to find the best businesses, with the right capabilities, to match with specific requirements.

Program managers and acquisition officials interested in learning more about small business capabilities in general should contact the AMCOM Office of Small Business Programs at 876-0921.
