FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas – The joint team at Fort Sam Houston hosts the grand opening of the Vogel Resiliency Center Jan. 5, 10 a.m.
The Vogel Resiliency Center is a world-class facility, located on JBSA-Fort Sam Houston, designed to focus, synchronize, and integrate the execution of programs that are directly supportive of the Army’s R2 (Ready and Resilient) objectives. This facility will enable the sustainment of individual and unit personal readiness for service members, families, retirees & DOD civilians within the JBSA community.
The most unique aspect about this resiliency center is the synchronization of operations and collaboration between stakeholders, the people that will be in the facility providing these resiliency services. These individuals have been intimately involved in planning and development of the concept of operations for the facility since 2014. This project will be executed in two phases. The first phase of our resiliency operations involves integrated delivery of eight core services within our main facility. Opening of our Resiliency Campus is the planned second phase and it will include the addition of several other resiliency services which will be housed in buildings adjacent to our main facility.
MEDIA: Media assistance is needed to “spread the word” to the citizens of central Texas. Senior Army leaders, San Antonio City leaders, Army Band members, ensembles or Public Affairs soldiers, others are available for interviews leading up to and after the event. There will be a walkthrough of the facility following the opening ceremony. Media interested in conducting interviews prior to the event should contact LTC Sgt. Major Dean Welch, 210-221-0754, e-mail dean.a.welch.mil@mail.mil or Sgt. 1st Class Shelman Spencer, 210-221-0712, e-mail shelman.w.spencer.mil@mail.mil.
