Army National Guard leaders visit 449th CAB Soldiers

CAMP BUEHRING, Kuwait – Command Chief Warrant Officer of the Army National Guard, U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 5 Peter Panos and Senior Army National Guard Chaplain and Deputy Chief of Chaplains, Army National Guard (CH) Brig. Gen. Kenneth Brandt met with warrant officers and chaplains assigned to the 449th Combat Aviation Brigade at Camp Buehring Dec 23, 2017.
Panos used his time to educate leaders about changes he is working through at the NGB level with the active Army component on the promotion process and career advancement.
“We keep working with the Army (active component) on this,” said Panos. “If there is something you have an issue with, you have to say something. I can’t help if I don’t know that is an issue for you.”
Broadening assignments available in Washington D.C., Army policy that governs warrant officers and online distance training were also on the agenda for talking point.
Panos emphasized how critical feedback is from lower echelons as he continues to communicate with top leaders from the active component about benefits that are most advantageous for National Guard warrant officers.
“Nothing will happens in the Army unless we’re involved in the conversation,” said Panos. “We have a voice. I am on every single panel that you can possibly imagine for the Army. We make sure that the Guard equity is always represented.”
Brandt also visited with the 449th CAB chaplains and leadership staff, where discussions included various issues experienced in theater for Soldiers. He also educated the group on ways to help service members stay resilient and spiritually fit.
“It was very special to have Brig. Gen. Brandt, the Deputy Chief of Chaplains, visit us during the Christmas season,” said 449th CAB Chaplain (CH) Maj. John Mozingo. “I know that this caused him to miss Christmas Day with his family, but his selfless-service was greatly appreciated by all the chaplains in the theater. He could have made his visit early, but he did not. His leadership is an example for all to follow.”
