7th Special Operations Kandak (Battalion) Commandos used the cover of darkness to surprise and overmatch the Taliban during two night offensive operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan, Dec. 29, 2017 and Jan. 1, 2018.
In recently released video, Afghan SOF moves freely through Taliban compounds, seizes Taliban weapons and equipment, and controls the movement of detainees for subsequent removal from their safe havens.
During the operations, the Commandos destroyed more than 1,000 kg of hashish, 150 kg of homemade explosive materials, numerous IED munitions and components, and seized more than 30 weapons.
No Afghan SOF members were injured in the operations.
