The Nebraska Air National Guard’s 155th Air Refueling Wing, located at the Nebraska National Guard Air Base in Lincoln, Nebraska, has begun a multiphase construction project scheduled to be completed in late 2019.
According to the Deputy Base Civil Engineer Capt. Ryan Watson, several contractors have moved onto the base to begin construction.
“The first round was to move the command post and get them back online in their new location,” said Watson. “This took the effort of moving the gym out of the old location and setting them up in security forces.”
The project began in early December, 2017 with work on the main hangar.
“Demolition has started in the main hangar,” said Watson. “The space has been cleared out and maintenance personnel have been moved to a space near the fuel cell hangar.”
Operations personnel have moved out of building 2945 into trailers that have been setup as temporary work spaces.
“Building 2945 has been turned over to the contractors and they are scheduled to start the yearlong project Jan. 8, 2018,” said Watson. “Once complete, it will serve as the new Wing headquarters building. This move will free up the contractors to finish the east side of the second floor of building 600 allowing maintenance and operations to move into their new spaces.”
