Afghan President Ashraf Ghani visited the Afghan National Army Special Operations Command at Camp Commando, Kabul, Afghanistan, Jan. 19, 2018. Ghani’s message to the force focused on the importance of protecting the nation’s Constitution and words of appreciation for the Commandos’ battlefield successes.
"You are the instrument...the enemy is scared from the Commandos' fury. It is because of you, we are winning the war," Ghani said.
The Afghan government continues to invest in the Commandos, announcing last August the doubling of the size of the ANASOC force by 2020. Guided by the Afghan Road Map, ANASOC will grow from approximately 11,700 to a 23,300 sized force comprised of Commandos, Special Forces, and a National Mission Brigade .
"I am proud of you. You are our nation's pride," Ghani stated.
Four thousand additional Commandos join their fellow special operators on the frontlines this spring. Next week, three Commando Qualification Courses will run concurrently with a total enrollment exceeding 2,500.
