Public Affairs Marines at Fort McCoy for the 2nd Marine Air Wing’s Ullr Shield exercise covered cold-water immersion training at Big Sandy Lake on South Post on Jan. 17, 2018, at Fort McCoy, Wis.
The public affairs service members spent weeks at the installation covering many training events for the exercise.
Ullr Shield is a training exercise designed to improve 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing’s capabilities in extreme cold-weather environments.
The 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing is headquartered at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C.
Hundreds of Marines participated in the exercise at Fort McCoy.
Fort McCoy has supported America’s armed forces since 1909.
