Marines at Fort McCoy for the 2nd Marine Air Wing’s Ullr Shield exercise managed water filtration operations at Big Sandy Lake on South Post on Jan. 17, 2018, at Fort McCoy, Wis.
It was one of several days that Marines went to the lake to filter water for their exercise participants to use.
Ullr Shield is a training exercise designed to improve 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing’s capabilities in extreme cold-weather environments.
The 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing is headquartered at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C.
Hundreds of Marines participated in the exercise at Fort McCoy.
