Active duty, civilians, contractors and dependents from the 561st Network Operations Squadron at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado, assisted with about 1,000 boxes of food for the 2018 Martin Luther King Jr. Care and Share Food Bank Event, Jan. 15, 2018.
The NOS helped put together these boxes in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day for the unit’s largest Care and Share support volunteer event for 2018. According to Staff Sgt. Joel Robinson, 561st NOS non-commissioned officer in charge, this year’s volunteer event was successful due to the number of boxes put together.
“Those who volunteered from the 561st NOS knew the impact this would make for others that are less fortunate than us,” said Robinson in an email. “The military is big on volunteering and we put others ahead of ourselves.”
It was great to hear feedback from volunteers who enjoyed the teamwork and camaraderie, Robinson added.
“The main significance of this event was not only to build community relations with Care and Share and the other organization that we were paired with, but the goal was to support the local food banks with boxed meals for the homeless,” Robinson said.
