Staff Sgt. Amber Romanello has served in the 167th Airlift Wing for nearly four years. She is prior active duty where she also worked in Material Management. She is a full-time mother and college student and is set to graduate with a Master’s degree in Elementary and Special Education in May. Romanello plans to pursue a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction.
“The imminent goal is to work in an elementary school and later transition into the collegiate educa¬tor setting,” she said.
As a supply specialist, Romanello is responsible for managing inventory and ensuring financial account¬ability for supplies. It’s a detailed and critical job, ensuring assets are accounted for and available when Airmen need them.
Romanello said her job here at the wing is important because “You can’t fly without supply.”
“I am currently working out of our base clothing section and it is through this shop that our base is out¬fitted in the gear and uniforms necessary for success,” she said.
“Romanello has been an excellent addition to my section by providing not only a positive attitude and exceptional work ethic but she is also an excellent wingman to her fellow co-workers,” said Master Justin Walther, asset management section chief and Romanello’s supervisor. “I have witnessed on multiple occasions her going out of her way to see how others are doing, whether it be in regards to their careers, their family, etc.”
Walther said Romanello always displays the core values and does an exceptional job of leading by example in whatever task she is assigned.
“Whenever I need a volunteer she is always one of the first to step up to the challenge,” Walther said. "She without a doubt has a bright future ahead of her in her military career no matter what path she chooses.”
Romanello enjoys reading, running and spending time with her family. She said she is proudest of her small family. “My kind husband and kids, they are my world,” she said.
Romanello said the thing people may be surprised to know is that she is the first in her family to gradu¬ate college.
