62nd Medical Brigade participated in Exercise Sudden Response Jan. 23-29 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. The brigade simulated treatment, transportation, inspection and blood product distribution.
The exercise was in support of Joint Task Force Civil Support’s Defense Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Response Force, who tested the response readiness of the medical, operations, aviation, chemical and logistic task forces.
The Joint Task Force Civil Support mobilizes the Defense Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Response Force, comprised of specialists and experts in various supporting roles, including medical, aviation and chemical decontamination.
62nd Medical Brigade provided the medical task force during the exercise to control and provide guidance to more than 1,000 Soldiers.
The medical brigade coordinated between multiple Department of Defense task forces, JTF-CS, Federal Emergency Management Agency, local police and fires department, and subordinate units to ensure the evacuations of all civilians and Department of Defense casualties during the exercise.
