Air Force Medical Service leaders visited the Maxwell clinic and the Airmen who work there, Feb. 7.
Air Force Surgeon General Lt. Gen. Mark A. Ediger and the Medical Enlisted Force and Enlisted Corps Chief, Chief Master Sgt. George Cum made a point during their time on Maxwell to meet the staff at the clinic.
As the Air Force Surgeon General, Ediger serves as the functional manager of the U.S. Air Force Medical Service and is responsible for advising senior Air Force and DoD leaders on the medical aspects of the service and health of the Airmen and their families.
Ediger’s initial reason for the visit to Maxwell was for the Group Commander’s Course at the Ira C. Eaker Center for Professional Development. While here, he spent time with the staff at the base clinic.
During their visit, Ediger and Cum were able to attend a mission brief and the daily safety “huddle,” where representatives from each office in the clinic meet and go over topics, such as the number of appointments for the day and manning status.
Col. Beatrice Dolihite, 42nd Medical Group commander, said that having the opportunity for the Airmen to meet their senior Air Force leaders gives them the chance to hear firsthand what their leaders expect from them.
She said that Ediger and Cum shared their expectations and enthusiasm for the care the team is delivering, and that reinforced to the Airmen that what they do matters to the Air Force and families.
During their walk through, Ediger and Cum acknowledged and coined several Airmen for their service and dedication to their mission.
“We have the best trusted care guardians anywhere in the Air Force, because they are truly dedicated to taking care of every patient that walks through our doors,” said Dolihite
She said the coins given to the Airman were in recognition to everything that they do, because they’re always outstanding.
Dolihite said the overall feedback from Ediger was positive, and he said the team here at the Maxwell clinic is a phenomenal group.
