NORFOLK, Va. – Comedian Carlos Mencia visited the Navy Exchange at Naval Station Norfolk, Nov. 19, where he signed autographs of his newest DVD release "Mind of Mencia: Season Four."
"Anytime people ask me to come out and interact with service members and their families I jump on the opportunity, said Mencia. "For me it's about showing how much I appreciate their service and all they do for our country."
Throughout the afternoon, Mencia showed his appreciation to military members by talking, posing for photos and signing autographs for all those who came out to see him.
"Today has been quite of an experience for me," said Theresa Rollins, military spouse. "Carlos Mencia is my favorite comedian and words can't even begin to express how good it feels to meet him."
The comedian and TV personality took the time to express what the military means to him and the uniqueness of their service.
"When I think of our military, honor is the biggest word that comes to mind. They conduct themselves in such a professional manner and possess a level of integrity that's second to none," said Mencia.
"I've done a lot of events with the USO and appearances in the states," added Mencia. "We've been to a lot of bases, but my biggest memory comes from the first time I went to Iraq. Going in-country and in to theatre was one of the most amazing experiences of my life."
Mencia's comedic career includes a wide variety of tours and accomplishments including guest appearances on "In Living Color," "Moesha," and "The Bernie Mac Show." In 2005, "Mind of Mencia" debuted on Comedy Central and has been a huge hit with four successful seasons.
