SPRINGFIELD, Ill – Members of the Army Reserve 724th Transportation Company, located in Bartonville, will participate in a prestigious culinary competition on March 1, 2018, in Hanna City.
Culinary specialists participating in the 50th Annual Philip A Connelly competition hail from throughout much of central Illinois, including Bartonville, Hanna City, Galesburg, Pekin, Springfield, and Bloomington. Members of their support team, the field sanitation team, hail from Pekin and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The culinary team will prepare a menu of bison meatloaf, corn O’Brien, mashed potatoes, gravy, spring salad, tomato rice soup, corn bread, Road Warrior Brookie, coffee, ice tea, orange drink mix and milk.
Competitors from the 724th Transportation Competition have already distinguished themselves by winning the competition at the United States Army Reserve level, in the field feeding category. This has earned them the privilege to represent the 103rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) in competing for the Department of the Army level award, the competition’s highest tier. This will determine the best team of culinary specialists from across the Army.
