The demobilization process includes turning in gear, medical checks, debriefing, and the option to attend the Transition Goals, Plans, Success (GPS) program and the Returning Warrior Workshop (RWW). Some sailors will also take the rating examination before heading home on terminal leave.
During their six-month mobilization, the Seabees provided support for Special Forces command (SOCOM), Central command (CENTCOM), and Africa command (AFRICOM) personnel throughout Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.
Small groups detached from main body and relocated to run various projects. The Seabees maintained Task Force camps, improved perimeters, and performed equipment maintenance, said Lt. Jason Mitchell.
The Seabees relieved NMCB 14 and NMCB 1 in August 2017. NMCB 27 and its active duty counterpart, NMCB 133, were recently relieved by NMCB 22 and NMCB 11 respectively.
NMCB 27 Seabees previously deployed in March of 2016 to Afghanistan and Djibouti.
