VILSECK, Germany - Command Sgt. Maj. Steven Brown replaced Command Sgt. Maj. Kevin Muhlenbeck as the 2d Cavalry Regiment senior enlisted advisor during a change of responsibility ceremony March 2, 2018 at the Memorial Gym on Rose Barracks.

Brown is no stranger to Germany, he has served with 5th Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment in Berlin and 1st Squadron, 2CR in Vilseck. His most recent assignment was at the U.S. Northern Command at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado.

“I am extremely honored and humbled to be back in this great community and to serve and lead troopers once again in the longest continuously serving regiment in the U.S. Army,” said Brown. “I can’t wait to see what the next two and a half years holds in store for us. I know it will go by in the blink of an eye.”

Muhlenbeck is headed to Fort Benning, Ga to be the command sergeant major for the U.S. Army Armor School.

“There is only one word that sums up today’s event and that is bittersweet,” said Muhlenbeck. “Bittersweet because although I am honored and humbled at the trust put in me as the next Armor School command sergeant major, leaving the Regiment, the Vilseck community and Germany again pains my family and I in a way that words cannot capture easily.”

Muhlenbeck went on to thank each echelon within the Regiment’s footprint and our German hosts and civilian support. He also wished Brown and his family all the best.

“It’s a great day to be a Soldier and an even better day to be a Dragoon,” Brown said.
