Employees with Niagara Bottling Company attended a tour of Production Plant Barstow, Marine Depot Maintenance Command, and Fleet Support Division, to study their Lean Six Sigma, Continuous Process Improvement strategies in action, on the Yermo Annex aboard Marine
Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif., Feb. 28.

The attendees are all CPI experts for Niagara from various facilities across the country, and converged on the base to observe and garner
“best practices” to take back to their own facilities. They also had the opportunity to meet with CPI leadership at PPB, and the facility’s CPI team, to share ideas and inspiration.

“The end goal of CI is to save the company money,” said Rachel Schlayen, Lean Six Sigma Manager for Niagara, based out of Philadelphia.

The process allows for a constant analysis of work methods to ensure that processes are efficient and injuries are kept to a minimum, which also assists in meeting the goals of the Voluntary Protection Program used on base.
