Fort Huachuca, AZ- The U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence and Fort Huachuca welcomed their new Command Sergeant Major during a ceremony at Brown Parade Field March 16.

Soldiers, Department of the Army Civilians, Army Families, and members of the Fort Huachuca community gathered to witness Command Sgt. Maj. Thomas J. Latter, the outgoing Command Sergeant Major of USAICoE and Fort Huachuca, change responsibility with Command Sgt. Maj. Warren K. Robinson.

Maj. Gen. Robert P. Walters Jr., Commanding General of the U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence and Fort Huachuca, was the host of the ceremony and the reviewing officer.

“Sergeants Majors are at the head of our Noncommissioned Officers Corps, they not only control the Soldiers in executing their mission, but they also mentor young officers and provide the commander with an unbiased assessment in both peace time and combat,” said Walters.

“Command Sgt. Maj. Latter has been serving as the Command Sergeant Major of USAICoE and Fort Huachuca for the last two and half years, advising myself and my predecessor Lt. Gen. Scott Berrier and impacting the lives of every Soldier who passed through Fort Huachuca. He assisted in the shifting USAICoE’s war fighting focus from counterinsurgency to large scale combat operations. He has been an intricate part of updating doctrine and influencing requirements to focus on tactical intelligence training at Corps and below.”

Latter also participated in the oversight of a number of projects that improved the mission and functionality of Fort Huachuca as well as quality of life of the Soldiers, Families, and Civilians of the Fort Huachuca community, according to Walters.

Latter, who took responsibility of the U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence and Fort Huachuca in September of 2015, is the 12th Command Sgt. Maj. of the Military Intelligence Corps.

“Team Huachuca, is a team of teams, and involves everyone working together and helping each other be successful, whether it is in the community or organizations on the installation looking for win-win opportunities to maximize resources. I would like to thank everyone for their support over the last two and half years,” said Latter.

Latter went on to thank the members of the different organizations within the Sierra Vista Community, units across Fort Huachuca, and the U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence specifically.

“To the Soldiers and Civilians of the Center of Excellence, thank you for efforts of the last 30-months. You have trained over and professionally developed over 40,000 Soldiers, Noncommissioned Officers, Warrant Officers, and Officers to be Military Intelligence leaders.

Robinson is coming to Fort Huachuca from just completing his tenure as the Talent Manager in Sergeant Major Management Division, Human Resources Command, Fort Knox, KY.

“I would like to thank everyone for coming out for today’s ceremony. Tamara (Robinson’s spouse) and I are excited and humbled to have this amazing opportunity to be here and serve our Soldiers and the Community over the next two years,” said Robinson. “I am confident this will be a great experience.”

Latter will retire at a ceremony at Fitch Auditorium on March 22 after 32-years of service to our nation.
