Evans Army Community Hospital (EACH) honored 11 Soldiers during an NCO induction ceremony at the Centennial Training Site on Fort Carson.
The Soldiers were recognized for joining the NCO ranks while assigned to U.S. Army Medical Department Activity (MEDDAC)-Fort Carson and signed their names to the unit’s NCO scroll Feb. 14, 2018.
“It brought light to a lot of forgotten traditions,” said Sgt. Caroline Kehl, emergency room medic. “It felt special because I know a lot of the other NCOs and we were promoted around the same time.”
EACH leadership wanted to ensure these Soldiers were recognized for their career achievement.
“You want to make sure you publicly announce their transition into the ranks of an NCO so other leaders and other members of the organization can witness that,” said EACH Command Sgt. Maj. Federico Conde. “It’s important to acknowledge the fact they are now leaders, so they serve now a different role within the organization.”
Soldiers were presented on stage as they walked through an archway to signify their transition from junior Soldier to an NCO.
“The NCOs know they are stepping into a different role and there are more expectations of them,” said 1st Sgt. Nicholas Rogers, Company B, MEDDAC-Fort Carson Troop Command. “It lets them know in a public forum this is an important milestone in your career, and you need to take ownership of that.”
