Marines with Combat Logistics Regiment 25 delivered and assembled a redesigned light weight purification system specifically built for Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course at Siphon 8, March 27.
The redesigned LWPS system allows WTI’s supporting units a steady flow of recycled, clean water, allowing more efficiency within the unit.
“The new LWPS system now has an extra module that allows more re-use than previous systems,” said Sgt. Jake Bohan, a CLR-25 Water support technician. “The water going through the system can be reused more than once, giving us more time to focus on mission essential tasks.”
The LWPS guarantees clean water for areas that have a scarcity of hydration assets.
“At this specific location, the closest water point is about fifteen miles from us,” said Bohan. “This system allows us to reuse water multiple times, preventing the strains of water runs.”
The system takes used water and purifies it to the point that it can be used for other jobs.
“We are using the water from our laundry system,” said Lance Cpl. Xavier Acosta, a CLR-25 water support technician. “Following its use, we run it through a filtration system, test it, then use it for the showers.”
LWPS can be set up throughout various forward deployed and training locations.
“Our mission at WTI is to provide necessary services to other units,” said Bohan. “The LWPS guarantees that that all Marines are taken care of and no one goes without basic necessities.”
“Hygiene is vital to mission success,” said Acosta. “We provide this service so Marines have good morale and are ready to go when duty calls.”
