SHREVEPORT, La. – Louisiana Army National Guard Soldiers judged North DeSoto High School's first drill meet in Stonewall, La., Nov. 1.
Cadets were graded on armed and unarmed drill and ceremony techniques as well as color guard maneuvers. All events were graded in accordance with Army standards, regulations and field manuals. Physical fitness was also tested in the Cadet Challenge, where cadets were scored on completing the most push-ups and sit-ups in two minutes, and a one-mile run in the fastest time possible.
"The Guard has been a tremendous help to us in everything that we do," said retired Maj. Joe C. Nobles, Senior Army instructor for North DeSoto High School.
Grant High School from Dry Prong, La., was the overall winner of the competition.
