    U.S. Army Europe and Africa

WIESBADEN, Germany -- The Human Resource University is a four-day structured course that allows HR professionals from around U.S. Army Europe, all the way from junior enlisted to senior ranks, to include civilian HR professionals, to come together and take the time and learn HR functions that are currently being utilized, those they may not have used in the past and give out new guidance on policies on the way ahead for the HR professionals.

“They can expect to enhance their HR competencies, hone in on those systems that we use, and even though IPSY is coming right around the corner, which is our integrated personal pay system, those systems that we currently use, Soldiers are not currently being trained in school so that gives those young Soldiers and some of those junior mid-level leaders the opportunity to come out and put hands on and touch those systems that they may not use on a every day basis to help take care of Soldiers. This training is a very hands on and structured training.” Said Sgt Maj. Robert Atkinson, the G1 Sergeant Major.

The objective of the university is to provide human resources personnel training and familiarity with the human resources systems and policies to better care for members within their unit.
“By getting us all together and talking about our experiences we have time to connect. One thing about HR is we all share similar issues and problems with taking care of our Soldiers. Sometimes we get consumed with being in our brigades and battalions or even down at the company level. This brings us all together and focus in and hone in on the HR critical skills that we can take back to our organizations to help commanders make informed decisions.”

Training is open to all brigade S1’s, HRC’s, HR companies, garrison Military Personnel Divisions and HR personnel. The next iterations are due to take place in Vicenza in June and Vielseck in September. If anyone is interested they should contact their unit personnel office for more information, or they can contact Sgt. 1st Class Eric Strickland at DSN: (314) 537-1092 or Sgt. Maj. Robert Atkinson at DSN: (314) 537-1003.
