SAN DIEGO -- Vice Adm. John D. Alexander, commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet, visited Information Warfare Training Command San Diego (IWTCSD) April 5.

During the visit, Alexander spoke with instructors and students about the importance of training and its impact on fleet readiness.

“Consistent, quality training across all mission sets is the foundation of a strong Navy,” Alexander said. “It’s critical that the various warfare areas work seamlessly with one another both in a training environment and real-world situations; the readiness of the fleet depends on it. We must train as we fight and that begins right here.”

Alexander observed various IWTCSD courses including the Amphibious Ready Group and Marine Expeditionary Unit Intelligence Course, Naval Special Warfare Intelligence Course, and the Information Warfare Team Trainer. His visit was part of a larger effort to evaluate training organizations and operational commands throughout the San Diego area.

Cmdr. Kelly Robbins, IWTCSD commanding officer, hosted the visit.

“Vice Adm. Alexander's visit was a great opportunity to showcase the breadth and quality of IW training we provide in support of fleet operations,” Robbins said.

IWTCSD, as part of the Center for Information Warfare Training, provides a continuum of training to Navy and joint service personnel that prepares them to conduct information warfare across the full spectrum of military operations.
