Naval Submarine School (NSS) recognized superior performance at an awards ceremony April 11.
Sonar Technician (Submarine) 1st Class Matthew Northfell received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal as recognition for his selection as the NSS Sailor of the Quarter for the second quarter.
Northfell is the leading petty officer for Sonar Maintenance “C” School in the Fleet Training Department. He was cited for his expertise and instruction training maintenance procedures for sonar systems and for his administrative foresight in cancelling outdated courses no longer meeting fleet requirements.
Electronics Technician 2nd Class Matthew Holloman, a navigation maintenance instructor in the navigation division, was selected as the Junior Sailor of the Quarter.
Navy Diver 1st Class Jordan DeFarcy was honored by the NSS Master Training Board as Instructor of the Quarter, and Electronics Technician 2nd Class Bradley Vigor was named Junior Instructor of the Quarter for the second quarter.
The SLC's primary function is to create, coordinate and execute the future training and education vision for the submarine force. As such, it is accountable for all undersea curriculums, training delivery methodologies, and for developing and maintaining professional development continuums for all undersea warfare officers and ratings to include electronics technician (communications and navigation), fire control technician, sonar technician, machinist mate (auxiliary and weapons), missile technician, and all nuclear training ratings.
