ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. – The room was filled with indistinct chatter interrupted only by subtle laughter as members of the First Army team met for the Adjutants General Summit here from April 17-18, 2018.
While many in attendance knew one another, the summit allowed for the introduction of some of the newest human resource teammates in First Army.
“That’s what this is all about,” explained Sgt. Maj. Steven Bridgeforth, 85th Support Command, G1 Sergeant Major. “It’s a chance to put names to faces of people you work with but never see. It’s about networking and getting us on the same page as we move forward.”
Ensuring that First Army staff from all 10 brigades was a major focus during the Adjutant Generals Summit.
“The summit provides a basis for our Human Resource team to understand the big picture of Army personnel,” explained William Schafer, First Army, G1 Director. “It improves our internal processes that support the First Army mission of delivering Reserve and National Guard component readiness for the Total Force Army.”
Schafer said those who work in human resources for First Army are able to learn something new and move forward in their careers by attending the two day summit.
