Multi-National Division – North
MOSUL, Iraq— Soldiers of the 2nd Company, 2nd Battalion, 6th Brigade, 2nd Division, Iraqi army went on a good-neighbor mission in Halawa, Iraq, Nov. 21.
The Iraqi army unit gave out clothes, food, shoes and toys to the neighbors in the village and met with members of the community. The Soldiers of 43rd Combat Engineer Company, 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, provided additional security during the mission.
Recently everything has been peaceful for the Iraqi unit from Combat Outpost Tallzalat, said 2nd Lt. Ghazwon Ahmed Hussein, executive officer, 2nd Company, 2nd Battalion, 6th Brigade, 2nd Division, Iraqi army. The IA company had not visited Halawa, which means sweet in Arabic, and began positive communication by extending their assistance to the people of the village. Neither IA nor U.S. Soldiers had visited the village in four months, so the IA wanted to let the community know that if help was needed their compound was nearby in Tallzalat.
