KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — The 7th Mission Support Command plays a key role as the United States Army Reserve Command’s forward presence in Europe.

To that end, the 7th MSC completed its annual Mission Readiness Review, the goal of which is to create dialog between the unit and USARC about its readiness posture, and specifically on Focused Readiness, said Sgt. Maj. Patrick McKie, the sergeant major for the USARC deputy commanding general Maj. Gen. Scottie D. Carpenter.

Focused Readiness is a program designed to increase and enhance readiness of select units to be prepared for any contingency operations.

McKie was part of the team that conducted the MR2 with the 7th MSC leadership. The visit was led by Brig. Gen. Alberto Rosende, assistant to the deputy commanding general, United States Army Reserve Command and also included USARC Command Sergeant Major Ted Copeland.

“The 7th MSC is doing very well and maintaining both individual and collective readiness, while still meeting all the operational demands in USAREUR,” he said. “All the Soldiers and leaders should be extremely proud of their organization, and continue to pound on readiness while still caring for our most valuable resource, our Soldiers and their Families.”

USARC has high expectations for the 7th MSC, because it is the only forward-stationed general officer command in Europe, said Brig. Gen. Fred Maiocco, the 7th MSC commanding general.

“The 7th MSC is leading the way,” he said.

Readiness standards apply to all the units and Soldiers across the Army Reserve, who must be ready to fight when called upon, McKie said.

“I was truly impressed with the professionalism and dedication of all the Soldiers and DA Civilians that I had an opportunity to meet and interact with,” he said. “The 7th MSC should be proud of who they are and what they are doing.”
