Hundreds of people visited the Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Spring Carnival, May 4-6, hosted by the Directorate of Morale, Welfare and Recreation and supported by Modern Midways out of Chicago, Illinois.
The carnival offered food and beverages, information and game booths and rides for people of all ages.
The children rides included a miniature roller coaster (Dragon Wagon), a miniature bounce machine (Frog Hopper), a bumper boat ride and more.
Among the family rides were a 120 foot super slide, a Ferris wheel, and a fun house. Thrill rides included the Tap Out, Yo-Yo, Hurricane and the Spider.
Danyale Jones, a Hinesville resident, brought her family to the carnival to let the children unwind and have some fun.
“I thought it would be nice to let the kids have fun and maybe enjoy some funnel cake,” Jones said.
The carnival's general manager, known by his crew as “The Governor," also a 12 year veteran and the son of an Air Force Careerist said he understood what military life was like.
“I think the carnival helps make a difference because it provides a break in the normal routine,” The Governor said. “Military life is hard enough with the constant moving."
He said he appreciated how it helped families learn to be resilient. Events like the carnival helped make good memories.
